"Bringing the Mares to Water" by Shary B. Akers

The Arts Castle invites you to come celebrate the Horse in Art! This juried exhibition and sale of fine art commemorates the 67th running of The Little Brown Jug, the premier pacing classic for 3-year-olds.
Artists are invited to submit their best work portraying the equine in any setting. Special consideration will be given to work depicting the sport of Harness Racing but all equine-themed art will be encouraged and considered for inclusion.
This show coincides with several large equine venues hosted in Delaware and the Columbus, Ohio metro area and will be advertised at those venues. Events include not only the Little Brown Jug, but the Ohio Polo Classic, the Delaware All Horse Parade, the Delaware County Fair, Grand Circuit Harness Racing and The All American Quarter Horse Congress. Most of these events are within a few miles of The Arts Castle with the exception being The Quarter Hose Congress, which is held a mere 30 minutes south of Delaware at the Ohio Expo Center. There are plenty of opportunities to take in the show! Please join us and share in the celebration by submitting your best work!

Open to all artists residing in the United States and Canada over the age of eighteen. All work must be original in concept and design and should represent the horse or equine industry in any setting. Artwork does not have to include a horse but must represent the industry in some fashion. Special consideration will be given to pieces depicting Standardbreds or harness racing however, representations of all breeds are encouraged and considered.
Accepted mediums include oil, acrylic, watercolor, pastel, drawing, hand-pulled prints, fine art photography and sculpture. Sculptural pieces may include stained glass, textiles, and jewelry. If you have a question about inclusion of a specific medium, please contact the show coordinator.

This show will be juried by a well qualified, versatile panel made up of several professional equine artists who work in a wide variety of mediums, as well as art professionals from Ohio Wesleyan University. Members of this panel will collectively choose the awards for the show.
