“The Third Dimension”
First Annual Juried Exhibition, September 29, 2012 ( Please note: Due to unforeseen parking logistics at the University of Houston we have changed our schedule. The art show will hang the 29th at the University of Houston, It will stay up for the symposium and will then be open to the public in the evening. This also offers the general public an opportunity to see some of the exhibits that show how some of this artwork is created.)
The goal of “The Third Dimension” is aimed at showcasing original artwork using innovative 3D technologies that the average spectator is unlikely to experience. This exhibition is an opportunity to creatively stimulate the imagination of viewers with three-dimensional and two-dimensional artwork in all mediums. Work considered must be made with the use of 3D technology during the creative process. The work submitted will coincide with the 3DCAMP Houston Symposium hosted by The University of Houston College of Natural Sciences and Mathematics and the School of Art.
“The Third Dimension” is open to all visual artists, age 18 years or older, who work in all areas of three dimensional art. Artwork can be created in any 3D medium, including all digital and film. Adherence to the theme, however broadly applied, is mandatory.
The exhibition will be selected in two stages: an initial review and tentative selection from all digital images submitted, and a later verification of those pieces from the actual artwork. The placement for the show will be determined by the juror and gallery curators. Work which does not match the digital image in content or quality may be eliminated during the second jury session, as will improperly framed work or work that cannot be safely exhibited. Digital images of selected works will be permanently retained. In submitting work for this exhibition, artists grant 3D CAMP Houston limited license to use the images, if desired, for public relations or documentary purposes relevant to the exhibition.
SUBMISSION GUIDELINES: FIRST JURY SELECTION
All work must be submitted for the initial jury review on a CD in jpeg format and mailed to Betz Art Gallery at 1208 W. Gray, Houston, TX 77019, or e-mail small format jpeg images to email@example.com. A website that displays images of the artist’s work may also be e-mailed to firstname.lastname@example.org, but be specific about which work is meant to be reviewed, indicating the page URL and the title of each work. Files should be no larger than 5MB. If it is not possible to send a file no larger than 5MB, please contact email@example.com
Gallery-wrap format canvas is acceptable and must be painted on sides in lieu of framing. All framed work must be wired and ready to hang. No saw tooth hangers. No glass: please use Plexiglas only. 3D work must be able to fit though a standard doorway and weight must not be heavier than two persons can carry. Artists may enter two works. Side views are encouraged of 3D work. Work will be viewed on a standard computer screen, and we encourage you to test your disc prior to submission. Label CDs with name, phone, media and title of each.
You will be notified by phone if your work is selected by the juror. Please deliver work to gallery during business hours on dates shown in prospectus.

September 25-27: Pick up unsold artwork (Tuesday through Saturday only, 10 a.m. – 6 p.m.) at Betz Art Gallery, 1208 W. Gray, Houston, TX 77019

All artists will have to opportunity to make their work available for sale. In the event of a sale, 70% will be dispersed to the artist and 3DCAMP and Betz Art Gallery will retain a 30% commission. All sold pieces will remain on display until the end of the exhibition period, at which time pickup and delivery to clients will be arranged by gallery staff.
