Flamingo Fest 2013
Flamingo Gardens is searching for artists to create artistic interpretations of Flamingos to be installed in the Gallery and throughout Flamingo Garden’s Botanical Gardens and Everglades Wildlife Sanctuary for Flamingo Fest, January 19-20, 2013, and remain on display through February 24, 2013. All types of art will be considered: paintings, photography, sculpture, mixed media, and earth art, but outdoor sculptures and installations are especially sought. 12 outdoor art sculptures or installations will be selected to be featured in the Botanical Gardens and highlighted in an exhibit brochure about the exhibit; the work will be
also be featured in the marketing material and accompanying press releases about the exhibit. Selected 2-D art work will be hung in the Gallery during the same period. All selected artists will be listed in the exhibit brochure and all artwork will be for sale in the gardens during the exhibit. There is no fee to enter, and only a 10% commission will be taken from the sale to cover handling costs and bank processing fees. Flamingo Gardens will be accepting proposals for
consideration through December 31, 2012.

Juried Exhibit
This is a juried exhibit and the decision of the curator is final. Only those works selected by the curator will be included in the exhibition.

I. 2D – WALL HANGING PAINTING OR PHOTO (Up to 3 pieces of artwork may be submitted for consideration. Size cannot exceed 72" wide by 72" high).
II. 3DSCULPTURE/ INSTALLATIONS (Up to 3 pieces of sculpture or Installations may be submitted for consideration.

Flamingo Fest is open to all artists.

Artwork of any media will be considered, but it must be an interpretation of a Flamingo. Sculptures and Installations should be able to withstand weather and to
be displayed in the gardens. The curator has final acceptance of content.

There is no fee to enter.
Artists may submit up to 2 images per artwork piece for consideration (Maximum 6 images). Applications and images are due by December 31, 2012 and should be sent to Cori Glick, Flamingo Gardens, 3750 S Flamingo Road, Davie, FL 33330 or may be emailed to events@flamingogardens.org

Intake & Acceptance:
All accepted artwork must be ready to hang or display. All 2-D art must be wired to hang. No sawtooth hangers will be accepted, no exceptions! Artwork should be clearly tagged on the back with the artist’s name and the title of the piece. Artwork is to be delivered to Flamingo Gardens between 9:30am and 4:30pm Sunday, January 6, 2013 unless previous arrangements have been made to deliver earlier. Artists will be notified on or before January 2, 2013 as to which pieces have and have not been selected for Flamingo Fest 2013.

Opening Event:
All selected artists will be invited to sell their work at complimentary vendor booths at Flamingo Fest January 19-20, 2013.
