Jackson Junge Gallery is immediately seeking artists’ submissions for an exhibit titled “Sex Sells”. In modern society is Sex still the strongest tool to sell a product, a piece of art, or an idea. Artist should consider such themes as the power and influence of sexual imagery; the use of sexuality in the world of advertising and today’s social media; and how art reflects society’s evolving and changing attitudes toward sexuality, desire, and romantic attachment.
Artists in all media are encouraged to submit any work, or sketches and supporting documentation for proposals of future work, which gives their artistic interpretation on what “Sex Sells” might look like. Priority and preference will be given to new works of art. Some occurring themes might include:
- Does nudity always imply sex?
- Suggestiveness, the fine line between porn and art.
- When sexuality is used in advertising, certain values and attitudes towards sex are necessarily 'sold' along with a product. Can this idea also be applied to fine art?
This exhibit will begin in May 2013.
Please send jpegs, title, medium, size, price and a brief description of how your piece relates to the theme of the exhibit to firstname.lastname@example.org or mail disk to Jackson Junge Gallery 1389 N. Milwaukee Ave. Chicago, IL 60622 no later than February 25, 2013.
