 AMoA Biennial 600: Printmaking

Call for Work

The AMoA (Amarillo Museum of Art) Biennial 600: Printmaking will be an exhibition of artwork selected by a nationally renowned juror from works submitted by artists residing within a 600-mile radius of Amarillo, Texas. The exhibition will be on view May 17 – August 11, 2013.

Deadline for Entries: Friday, March 15, 2013 (postmark)

Artist Notifications: On or before April 12, 2013

Accepted Artwork Due at Museum: May 6, 2013

Exhibition Opening Reception: Friday, May 17, 2013


Kathleen Edwards is the chief curator of the University of Iowa Museum of Art, Iowa City, and has curated more than 75 exhibitions. She came to the UIMA in 1998 as the curator of prints, drawings, and photographs, and subsequently became responsible for “new media.” Previously she served as Executive Director of the Print Center in Philadelphia for nine years.

Eligible works

The prints must be works of graphic art created as original works. They cannot be copies of works in another medium. Eligible artworks include hand-pulled prints created with intaglio, lithography, relief, serigraphy, or experimental methods. No photographs or digital reproductions will be accepted. Maximum dimensions of each work are 96 x 96 inches, including frame.

The works must be ready for professional installation. All framed prints must use Plexiglas. No special handling or installation instructions accepted, unless the selected artist is on site to assist with the installation.

Entry Guidelines

Digital images with 300 dpi resolution copied on a CD/DVD is the only accepted format for submission. (No MAC-FORMATTED IMAGES). Entry CDs will not be returned.

Each artist may submit a maximum of THREE entries, each consisting of one full-view image and one detail (e.g. 6 images total).

Please label the CD/DVD with your full name. Label digital image with your name and title of the work. Entry CDs/DVDs will not be returned.

A jury fee of $30.00 (cashier’s or personal check) must be included in the envelope with the digital images and the completed entry.

Transit and Liability

Artists whose works are selected for the exhibition are responsible for shipping or hand-delivering artworks to and from Museum in re-usable cartons or crates. All works must have a return address label. A bar-coded shipping label or adequate postage for return shipping must be included with all shipped works.

Artists must cover the cost of insurance while the works are in transit. The works in the exhibition will be insured while in the possession of AMoA. AMoA is not responsible for damage due to improper packing. No Styrofoam peanuts allowed as packing materials.


Four cash awards: Best of Show, $700; 1st Place, $500; 2nd Place, $200; and 3rd Place, $100.

The Amarillo Museum of Art will publish a brochure to document the exhibition and selected artworks from the exhibition. Each participating artist will receive 2 copies of the AMoA Biennial 600: Printmaking brochure. Artworks accepted for the exhibition may be reproduced for publicity or educational purposes and may appear on the Amarillo Museum of Art website.
