ABOUT THE EXHIBITION, ‘CURIOUS DEVIATIONS’: Non-Fiction Gallery is looking for artwork that explores the concept of the uncanny. The gallery will be hosting a juried show of works that are as seductive as they are repulsive, featuring themes and imagery both strange and familiar. The exhibition will run from August 30 – September 9, 2013.

ABOUT THE GALLERY: Non-Fiction Gallery is committed to exhibiting innovative, thought-provoking contemporary work spanning a myriad of media. Through carefully considered exhibition programming, Non-Fiction aims to highlight emerging local, national and international artists, while engaging our community in a wider cultural dialogue.

EXHIBITION GUIDELINES:

MEDIA: All forms of 2-D and 3-D original art welcome. (Space and equipment limitations may apply.)

SIZE: Works should be no larger than 24 inches wide and/or 60 inches high.

ENTRY FEE: $15 for up to three works, $5 per every entry thereafter. It is a non-refundable fee and no changes of images can be made after you submit without another entry fee. Your submissions do not guarantee inclusion into a show. The decision to accept entries into a show is based solely on the Gallery.Fee can be paid through Paypal, using the link on the website (www.nonfictiongallery.com) or can be dropped off at the gallery in cash or money orders. No entries will be considered until submission payment has cleared.

IMAGE REQUIREMENTS: Email images of works (JPGS only) to nonfiction.gallery@gmail.com. You must include the following items for your artwork to be considered:

  1. DEVIATIONS’ in the subject line of your email.
  2. An accurate, current digital image of each work you would like to submit. JPGS should be approximately 1000 x 1000 pixels @ 72 dpi, no more than 10mb.
  3. Full Name of Artist and contact phone #.
  4. Size of work: height x width x (depth - if applicable)
  5. Medium – if work is 3-D, you may include extra photos of a singular piece to show multiple sides. These do not count towards the total of your submissions.
  6. Year of completion
  7. Title of work

DATES TO NOTE:

 Wednesday, August 14: Submissions due, complete with images and payment.

 Saturday, August 17: Entrants notified of acceptance.

 Saturday, August 24: Accepted art due at gallery.

 Wednesday, August 28: Show installation

 Friday, August 30: Opening Reception

 Friday, September 6: Closing Reception & Awards

AWARDS: Accepted entries for this exhibition will be judged again during the course of the exhibition. Four winning artists will be given the opportunity to exhibit more work at their own four-person show hosted by Non-Fiction Gallery in December.

IF ACCEPTED:

Notification: All entrants will be notified by email if they have been accepted into the exhibition by midnight, August 17.

Artwork due and Shipping: Accepted artwork is due by August 24. Artists pay for shipping and insurance both ways, or can make arrangements to drop artwork by the gallery during business hours. Non-fiction Gallery will not be responsible for loss or damage of any artwork, no matter what the cause. By submitting artwork to this exhibition, each artist agrees to this statement. Artwork is not insured while in the possession of Non-Fiction Gallery.

Accepted work must be framed and wired for hanging, or include appropriate hanging/display hardware.

Gallery sales commission is 30% of the retail price named by the artist. Gallery will only collect commissions on works sold during the course of the exhibition. Artist retains copyright.

NOTES: Non-Fiction Gallery reserves the right to refuse to exhibit an artwork if it is radically different from the image that was submitted. Additionally, if any artwork is not ready to hang, it will not be included in the exhibition.
