Call for Artists for the new Art Gallery at the Old Bakery & Emporium
Old Bakery & Emporium (OBE) Art Gallery is currently seeking applications for the Art Gallery for exhibits for the 2014 Year. We invite artists and visual arts organizations to apply. Exhibitors must be 50 years of age or older to meet OBE consigners requirements.
Art Gallery is located on the 3rd floor in OBE, at 1006 Congress Avenue, and is managed by the City of Austin, Parks and Recreation Department. OBE is in a high traffic area one block south of the Capitol. The facility consists of a tourist information center, an emporium where adults 50 years or older sell their arts and crafts, the Lundberg Maerki Historical Collection and Art Gallery.
The gallery space has two distinct spaces and is approximately 909 square feet with 140 linear feet of wall space. The rotating schedule of exhibitions will feature artworks of all media and subject matter. Criteria for selection includes, experience of the artist or sponsoring group, suitability of the space for the proposed exhibition, and appropriate subject matter for the public. As a City of Austin facility, City staff will make the final determination if necessary. There is no fee, but there will be a 20% commission from all sold art during the exhibit. Applicants may specify a preference of month, however, months and times of each exhibit will be assigned by the committee. Application Deadline is September 31, 2013.
