BOX POT: The Contained Container

A National Exhibition with Juror Garth Clark

Box Pot is a juried exhibition looking for work that is sculptural and comprises a pot in a box. The pot needs to be ceramic, it can be accompanied by other forms as long as a pot is dominant. The box or container can be ceramic or any other media. Works done in multiples are also acceptable.

Essentially the exhibition is about containing a container. Artists must submit an artist’s statement about why the pot(s) is (are) boxed. After traditional and formal elements are taken into account, the deciding factor will be “why” the pot is boxed. The answer does not have to be an impenetrable theory, it can be a few sentences but it needs to provide a convincing and necessary link between the two elements.
