PROSPECTUS FOR 2014 ANNUAL JURIED EXHIBITIONS

 

ABOUT DANFORTH ART’S JURIED EXHIBITIONS: Each year Danforth Art’s Juried Exhibitions Off the Wall and Community of Artists showcase new and exciting contemporary work created by emerging and established artists. Juried annually by a renowned, visiting curator, Off the Wall communicates a unique curatorial vision, and has been reviewed in Art New England, artscope, The Boston Globe, Boston Phoenix, among others.  It also receives wide-spread attention from curators, gallery owners, and collectors.

 

2014 JUROR FOR OFF THE WALL:  Jennifer Gross is the Deputy Director of Curatorial Affairs and Chief Curator at deCordova Sculpture Park and Museum.  Prior to joining deCordova, Gross was Curator of Modern and Contemporary Art at the Yale University Art Gallery, and has held curatorial positions at the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum and the Institute of Contemporary Art at the Maine College of Art, where she was also an Assistant Professor.

 

JUROR FOR COMMUNITY OF ARTISTS: Danforth Art’s Executive Director KatherineFrench has been recognized by the New England Chapter of the International Association of Art Critics (AICA) for curatorial excellence and named Best Curator of Locally Made Art at the New England Art Awards. Work included in Community of Artistsis chosen by Danforth Art’s Executive Director Katherine French after selections have been made for Off the Wall. 

 

ELIGIBILITY: Artists may submit up to three works created within the last five years. Work in all media is encouraged. Applicants must be Museum members with membership valid through August 3, 2014; please note that a one-year Danforth Art Individual Professional Artist Museum Membership (valued at $60) is included as part of the submission fee

 

APPLICATION PROCESS: Danforth Art accepts online submissions only. Submissions will be considered for selection in both Off the Wall and Community of Artists. Visit danforthart.slideroom.com to upload image, video, and audio submissions and complete the application process. We cannot accept submissions by any other method.


FEES:

 

Please note: Off the Wall and Community of Artists are competitive, juried exhibitions. Submission does not guarantee participation in the show. Membership and submission fees are non-refundable, even if work is not selected.

 

SUBMISSION PERIOD: Submissions will be accepted Monday, March 10 – Friday, April 11, 2014.  No late submissions accepted.

 

PRIZES: Juror’s Choice Prizes to three works, plus six honorable mentions, for works in Off the Wall are announced at the Opening Reception.  First Prize: $500; Second Prize: $250; Third Prize: $100; plus six non-monetary honorable mentions.
