10 Featured Artists Awards chosen from exhibition by internationally renowned collage artist and lecturer, Jonathan Talbot. Also, the gallery is actively seeking artists for traditional representation.
This is an non-juried show. All artists who submit to the exhibition will be included in the show.
All types of collage, montage, or assemblage will be accepted. Digital collage will also be allowed. Size restrictions will apply. The gallery’s interpretation of the meaning of these areas of visual concern is very broad. Note to digital artists: an exhibition of digital art is planned for March 2010, titled, Zeros+Ones: The Digital Era.
Max Ernst said of collage, “Collage is the noble conquest of the irrational, the coupling of two realities, irreconcilable in appearance, upon a plane which apparently does not suit them.” Likewise, it could be said of montage that it is an art of connecting disparate pictorial parts to create order from difference, and assemblage is an activity of mind projecting the supernormal in the organization of junk.
