The Harbor History Museum presents the GigFest Maritime Art Exhibition, June 4 through July 3, 2011. The exhibition will be in the museum's Special Exhibitions Gallery. What is Maritime Art? Maritime/marine art includes the sea itself, the coast, seaside, ships, sailing craft, beaches, wildlife, portraits, people, or anything that goes with the sea.
Pacific Northwest artists are welcome to submit original maritime artwork. All mediums accepted. Artwork previously shown at the Commencement Bay Maritime Fest Art Show in Tacoma is not eligible.
Up to three pieces can be entered. All mediums accepted. Non-refundable $10 fee for each entry, $25 for three entries; 40% commission to Harbor History Museum on all sold items.
Awards: 1st prize-$500; 2nd prize-$200; 3rd prize-$100; People's Choice Award (no cash award).
Juror: Artist Ted Pankowski, vice president of Seattle's Puget Sound Group of Northwest Painters and winner of the prestigious Joanne Rosenberg Memorial Award given by the East Side Association of Fine Arts.
